Why Hire Shaun?

Dear @Twitter @Ev and Team,

From @ShaunDakin and @TweetGovt (#HireSD hashtag)

Your position, Government Liaison, is written just for me.

I believe that the world can be a better place because of information sharing and twitter's role in doing so.

Here is why I believe I'm the best candidate for the job.

  1. I live on twitter.   But, so do millions of people, right?   But have millions of people done this:
    • Won the Mashable Open Web Award for Social Media use by a Non Profit?   >  @EndTheRoboCalls
    • Been nominated for one of the top 16 Twitter moments of 2008 by Mashable in this article.
    • Been nominated as one of the top 10 Twitterers in DC in 2009 by the former head of the White House Interactive Team?
  2. I share, all the time.  According to some, perhaps too much.   Here are just some of the Twitter Accounts I manage using HootSuite:
    • @EndTheRoboCalls >  The twitter account for the non-profit organization I formed in 2007 to fight for voter privacy rights.
    • @PrivacyCamp >  The twitter account for the series of barcamps or unconferences that I founded in 2008 with the Center for Democracy and Technology.
    • @PCDCNtwk  >  The Progressive Communicators of Washington, DC.  This is the twitter account for a DC based group of communicators.  I run the twitter account with daily activity.
    • @ShaunDakin >  My business tweets
    • @IsCool >  My personal tweets
  3. I love politics and government:
    • I've volunteered for Dukakis, Clinton, Gore
    • I've worked at the Democratic National Committee (For Kerry / Edwards)
    • I've interned for Senator Leahy (D-VT)
    • I majored in Government at Colby College
    • I started Citizens for Civil Discourse (The National Political Do Not Contact Registry) and grew it to 150,000 members with no funding and little assistance.
  4. I often speak about social media and twitter including at the Center for American Progress in the Fall of 2009.
  5. I'm a great spokesperson for my non profit having accomplished:
    • Testyfing at the US Senate for Sen. Feinstein and the Robocall Privacy Act (S.1077)
    • Interviewed live on CNN, MSNBC, NPR, XM Radio and many other local and regional TV and Radio stations including LA, NYC, San Francisco, Washington, DC

Thank You,

Shaun Dakin
